Below is the beginning of the text “No Tongue”, which can be found in Mixco’s Mandan. The orthography used in this book is different in that it uses the ligature ‹æ› to represent an underlying vowel which is either [a] or [e] depending on grammatical context. A different source, (Hollow) uses a capital ‹E› for the same phoneme. I do not know if there is a practical alphabet for the language. As some of the accented letters are not independently encoded by Unicode, the accents may not appear in the positions they should. |
