This Woods Cree text, entitled “Encounters with bears” was spoken by Mrs. Janet Feitz. I have cosmetically modified the syllabics text given on page 58 of the book ᑰᐦᑯᒥᓇᐘᐠ ᐊᑖᒋᒧᐏᓂᐚᐘ , in that I have written preverbs (prefixes which come before the verb stem) together with the verb, instead of separated by a space. I have also changed the Roman orthography circumflex (for long vowels) into a macron. This text is pointed, so that it includes vowel length and /h/. This page uses no characters outside the Unicode standard, although the Woods Cree th-final (not found in this text) is absent from Unicode. |
